Elephant: ‘Out of jail’, jumbo returns to violent ways, kills mahout | India News

GURUVAYUR: A 36-year-old mahout was gored to loss of life by elephant Guruvayur Chandrasekharan on Wednesday on the Anakotta (elephant enclosure) the place it had been tethered. The one-tusker was taken to the Srikrishna temple final week after a spot of 28 years.
The deceased O A Ratheesh, the second mahout, was attacked whereas he was serving the jumbo water round midday.Ratheesh dealt with Chandrasekharan on Wednesday as a short lived substitute since first mahout Okay Okay Byju was on depart. Ratheesh, who was strangled and later thrown away by the tusker, was rushed to a personal medical school hospital close to Thrissur however couldn’t be saved.
Chandrasekharan, almost 60 years outdated, has been tethered to the elephant yard for almost three many years. Mahouts and devaswom authorities had been scared to take it out due to the troubles it had created previously. The tusker had reportedly attacked a mahout, a cinema theatre, and even fellow elephants a couple of times when paraded at festivals.
