Democratic Republic: At least 13 mourners killed, 9 children, in east Congo shooting

GOMA: At the least 13 individuals together with 9 kids have been killed when a soldier in east Democratic Republic of Congo opened fireplace on individuals gathered to mourn his deceased baby on Saturday evening, the military and a neighborhood official mentioned on Sunday.

The capturing occurred within the village of Nyakova on the banks of Lake Albert in Congo’s jap Ituri province.
“The soldier opened fireplace on all these round him. A dozen individuals died,” Ituri military spokesman Jules Ngongo mentioned by way of phone.

Search groups are in search of the soldier, a member of Congo’s navy, and an investigation into the incident has been opened, he mentioned.
Village chief Oscar Baraka Muguwa mentioned 13 individuals have been killed, together with 9 kids.
It was unclear what led the soldier to start capturing. In response to Muguwa, the soldier was involved his baby could be buried with out him there.
