Karachi: Pakistan: Three Karachi police officials arrested for ‘wrongfully detaining’ trader

KARACHI: Three Counter Terrorism Division (CTD) officers in Karachi have been arrested on allegations of “corrupt practices” and wrongfully detaining a dealer from Punjab province, in accordance with Daybreak.
SSP (Investigation) Bashir Ahmed Brohi of Karachi CTD stated that the arrested officers had been accused of detaining the dealer over costs of terror financing and involvement in Hawal/Hundi enterprise to extort cash from him.
On being knowledgeable of this, motion was taken for the discharge of the dealer and the suspects’ arrested, he stated, including that the dealer had been launched.
The SSP (Investigation) stated a case was registered in opposition to the suspects on a criticism by the dealer’s cousin on Saturday and authorized proceedings had been initiated in opposition to them, as per Daybreak.
The primary data report (FIR), registered at Karachi CTD police station within the south district, quoted the complainant as saying that he was visiting Karachi together with his cousin, Mohammad Waqas, for enterprise functions when Waqas went lacking on Saturday round 9 am.
“His cell phone was turned off,” the complainant instructed police, including he reached CTD Civil Strains police station whereas trying to find Waqas.
The complainant stated he met Station Home Officer (SHO) Inspector Khawaja Imdad Ali on the police station who sought details about Waqas from his employees. He added that Waqas was finally recovered from an assistant sub-inspector’s (ASI) room at 2:30 pm however there was no report of entry on the police station of his detention, reported Daybreak.
In keeping with the FIR, the ASI, together with two constables, had wrongfully detained Waqas.
The complainant sought authorized proceedings in opposition to the suspects.
