Military identifies Marine Corps pilot killed in jet crash near San Diego base

SAN DIEGO: The US navy has recognized the Marine Corps pilot who was killed Thursday when his fight jet crashed close to a San Diego base throughout a coaching flight. Maj. Andrew Mettler was piloting an F/A-18D Hornet when it went down at 11.54 pm Thursday close to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, the 2nd Marine Plane Wing stated in an announcement from its headquarters in Cherry Level, North Carolina.
